The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship is for the 2011-12 academic year. A successful candidate from our Rotary District 6330 will receive US$26,000 for one academic year of study in another country. Please kindly refer to rules of eligibility & criteria below. Candidates should possess excellent leadership skills & potential; and do not currently need to be studying to qualify e.g. can be employed.
Rules of eligibility:
- Must have completed at least 2 years of university or college at the time the scholarship period begins.
- NOT be Rotarians, honorary Rotarians or closely related to a Rotarian (spouse, child, grandchild). Rotaractors are eligible and encouraged to apply, provided they meet all other eligibility criteria.
- Submit an application through a local Rotary club in the applicant’s legal or permanent residence or place of full-time study or employment.
- There are no age or gender restrictions.
Qualities of an ideal Ambassadorial Scholarship:
- Possesses excellent leadership skills & potential
- Is interested in a study field that has a direct impact on the humanitarian needs of the world such as:
- Peace & conflict prevention / resolution
- Disease prevention & treatment
- Water & sanitation
- Maternal & child health
- Basic education & literacy
- Economic & community development
- Has demonstrated a personal commitment to community service
- Has well-defined and realistic goals, maturity and sense of purpose
- Is an excellent public speaker, skilled with presentations to both small and large audiences
- Is willing to study in a country that typically does not host Ambassadorial Scholars
- Is sincere about maintaining a relationship with Rotary after the scholarship period.
